Abstract

Objective. To perform the linguistic validation of the BREAST-Q Russian Version 2.0 questionnaire as a method for assessing the results of aesthetic mammoplasty.

Material and methods. Validation consisted of 5 stages and subsequent statistical analysis of the data. Linguistic validation was performed in two modules for specific operations (breast augmentation and reduction/mastopexy). The validated questionnaires were tested in 100 patients.

Results. The linguistic validation of two modules of aesthetic surgery (breast augmentation and reduction/mastopexy) was carried out. Each of these modules has preoperative and postoperative scales corresponding to the Rush criterion and traditional psychometric criteria: Cronbach’s alpha coefficient 0.81—0.96; reproducibility of test-retesting — 0.7—0.9.

Conclusion. Currently, the BREAST-Q questionnaire is the only tool for evaluating the results of aesthetic breast surgery in accordance with international and federal standards. BREAST-Q Version 2.0 questionnaire ensures the important data for improvement in breast augmentation and reduction/mastopexy from the perspective of both surgeons and patients due to its unique psychometric properties.
