Abstract

Cosmetology trends in recent years have substantiated the need for development and application of fillers based on hyaluronic acid (HA). On the one hand, these fillers should be appropriate for anatomical and physiological features of certain facial areas. On the other hand, the fillers should be characterized by adequate effectiveness, naturalness and safety for prediction of clinical outcomes. One of these objectives in recent years is creation of HA-based filler that would be optimal for aesthetic correction of the lower face. Allergan company has developed HA-based implant Juvederm Volux meeting these requirements. Currently, Juvederm Volux filler has undergone extensive preclinical trials and clinical studies according to the standards of good clinical practice. Thus, this filler is successfully used in several European hospitals. Literature data confirm high level of confidence to the safety and effectiveness of this filler. Instrumental diagnostic methods confirmed the natural integration of the filler with facial soft tissues. The authors reported clinical effect for more than 18 months and high patient satisfaction. We can conclude that HA-based fillers with certain physicochemical characteristics adapted to anatomical and physiological characteristics of various facial areas and levels of injection is a new stage in the development of injection facial correction. Introduction of Juvederm Volux filler into clinical practice is a new stage in this process.
